Privacy
Tilora runs on your Mac, and what it shows stays there. There’s no account and no advertising, and the app doesn’t track what you do in it.
What goes online
- Weather. If you allow Location, Tilora sends your position, rounded to about a kilometer, to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (api.met.no) to get the forecast. Nothing else is sent with it.
- Your trial and license. The first time you open Tilora, it asks our license server to start your free trial and sends an anonymous identifier for that Mac, so each Mac gets one trial. When you enter a license key, the key and the same identifier are sent. That’s how one key works on three Macs. The identifier can’t be traced back to your Mac’s serial number.
- Updates. About once a day, Tilora checks tilora.io for a new version. The check includes the app’s version and nothing about you.
- Lyrics. If you turn on lyrics, the name, artist, album and length of the song playing are sent to LRCLIB (lrclib.net), a free library of lyrics, to fetch its words. Nothing about you is sent, and nothing is sent while lyrics are off, which they are until you turn them on.
- Share by link. When you choose Copy Link for 3 Days and say yes, the files you picked are sent to Tilora’s server (hosted by Supabase), with their names and sizes, the same anonymous identifier for your Mac, and your trial or license, so only Tilora can share. Anyone with the link can download them for three days; after that they can’t be downloaded, and they’re deleted soon after. No account is needed on either side. Nothing is sent unless you choose it.
- Your teams. When you search for a team, the name you type is sent to ESPN. For each team you follow, Tilora asks ESPN for its fixtures a few times a day, and for the score while it plays. Its crest, and a picture of whoever scores, come from ESPN too. The requests name the team or the player and nothing about you.
- Purchases. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your email address so we can send your key. We never see your card details.
What stays on your Mac
Everything else. Your calendar, clipboard history, what’s playing and the camera image in the mirror are read on your Mac and never sent anywhere, and so are your files, unless you share one by link. Tilora asks for each permission the first time a feature needs it, and you can turn any of them off in System Settings.
This website
tilora.io counts visits so we know which pages are read and where visitors come from. It does this with Umami, without cookies and without storing anything on your device, and it can’t tell who you are or follow you to other sites. Nothing is shared with advertisers.
